New Release from Jersey Devil Press
Jersey Devil Press, Issue Twenty-One
This month’s stories are all about facing that destiny, in one way or another. We start with J. David Bell’s “A Chimaera Story With Four Morals,” a tale about a father and son and a march toward the inevitable. Next are two tales about playing with the strange and unfortunate hands Fate dealt: “Literary Ops,” by K. Marvin Bruce, and “The Swell Foop,” by Mindela Ruby. After that, it’s “The Six,” by Ainslie Hogarth, about a massive turd wrenching one man’s life irrevocably. And, finally, we close with “The Stupidest Thing I Ever Heard,” by Kimberly Steele, a story about how maybe destiny isn’t quite so destined after all.
The online version of Issue Twenty-One is here, and the .pdf can be downloaded here. Read it like you don’t have a choice.

New Release from In Between Altered States
In Between Altered States, Episode 13
This time around in Episode (lucky) 13 we have a variety of verbal cacophony for you. As always these are loosely based themes that we run with to try and string together 8 stories in a dream like fashion. Yes, sometimes they are frightening dreams, sometimes funny. We are very thrilled to present 7 new writers to IBAS and one good friend who has been lending work from the beginning. Please try and read all 8 stories in a row (they are small…they don’t take long) and then jump back and read your favorites again some other time. We are pleased to feature work from these fab authors: Josh Olsen, Jack Bristow, Eric Suhem, Robert Vaughan, Jennifer Hollie Bowles, Levi Gribbon, Zack Kopp, and KC Callagy.

Issue No. 7 is now available online from Phantom Kangaroo featuring the work of Annie Neugebauer, Daniel Romo, Febe Moss, Franklin Murdock, Glenn Cooper, Harry Calhoun, Jane Roken, Kimberly Casey, Nathan Savin Scott, Paul McQuade, Robert Vaughan, Ty Russell and Wendy Willis.
This is a very special issue for me because it's Friday the 13th. I've been preparing by scaring myself all week, driving down dark roads, calling out ghosts, pretending that I love you. Because of this I've been staying up late at night, looking at the stars, stealing their stories, and wondering how in the hell I'm going to be able to translate them. I think maybe I'll just post them here and you can read them for yourself. Here are 13 stories written by 13 stars. --Claudia Lamar, May 2011

New Release from Bending Light into Verse
Bending Light into Verse recently released its second volume. It is available for purchase or for free viewing online.
BENDING LIGHT INTO VERSE, V2
Photographs by Jennifer Tomaloff
Poetry by Howie Good, Helen Vitoria, Mark Lamoureux, Nic Sebastian, JD Nelson, Felino Soriano, Jason Mashak, Doug Draime, David Tomaloff, and MORE.
The bending light into verse series began in the Fall of 2009 with the simple intention of year-end cataloging the personal photography of Jennifer Tomaloff. Throughout a series of initial conceptualizations, the project began to take on a more outwardly creative focus as Jennifer began reaching out to writers in her community to take part in an ekphrastic experiment. Each writer commissioned for the project was given a set of photographs, and asked to write something inspired by what they saw—be it a title, a short story, or a poem. Each of the writers gladly rose to the opportunity and far exceeded all expectations; every photograph was returned, each picture telling its unique story.
The project was so enjoyable that Jennifer decided to continue the process on an annual basis. The photographs would be compiled throughout the year; writers would be sought out in late fall, and the book compiled during the third week of December in the tranquil Northwoods of Wisconsin.
