Luis Rivas lives in Los Angeles, California. He was a telemarketer, construction worker, flower delivery driver, fast food cashier, sales clerk, non-profit canvasser, tutor, adult store and strip club manager and package handler/zip code sorter. He dropped out of Los Angeles Valley College where he was studying journalism to work full-time at a porn shop. Then he got fired. Now he has gone back to school, continuing his studies in journalism and Chicana/o Studies at California State University of Northridge and Los Angeles City College. He is currently a full time journalist student and part-time activist. His poetry has appeared in numerous small press publications. Luis is currently the poetry editor at Gloom Cupboard and a columnist for Red Fez.

Matt Sedillo is a two-time national slam poet, grand slam champion of the Damn Slam Los Angeles 2011 and the author of For What I Might Do Tomorrow published by Caza De Poesia 2010. His poetry has been published in anthologies alongside the likes of such literary giants as Amiri Baraka, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Jack Hircshman and Luis Rodriguez. Sedillo is a frequent guest on numerous programs on KPFK 9.07 FM and has also been featured twice on Radio Free Atlanta 8.93 FM. An interview and excerpt of his work was featured in a story that appeared in the Los Angeles Times.

David A. Romero is a proud Pocho/Chicano spoken word artist from Diamond Bar, CA.
Romero is the host of Between the Bars Open Mic at the dba256 Gallery Wine Bar in Pomona,
CA. Romero has opened for Latin Grammy winning artists Ozomatli and Latin Grammy
nominated artists La Santa Cecilia. He has featured alongside Taalam Acey as well as with a
number of HBO Def Poets. His work has been featured numerous times on multiple programs on
KPFK 90.7 FM Los Angeles.

Call for Submissions
Gutter Eloquence Magazine is a bad-ass electronic journal that publishes
some of the best voices of the underground lit scene and beyond. Featuring
both new and established poets, we seek high-quality, but gutsy
writing--two-fisted free verse that pulls no punches!

Submissions are welcome now through April 10th.

Issue #15 will be a special, THEMED issue. Guidelines are available on the
G.E.M. website, so read 'em before sending in your work. And it won't hurt
(much) to read an issue or two of the zine beforehand, as well. After all,
it's online and free!

Call For Submissions
Full of Crow Poetry is now taking submissions for the Spring Issue which
hopes to be ready by April.
The guidelines are as follows:
* Please send up to 5 poems in the body of an email. No attachments please
unless form is a concern.
* Please indicate that the submission is for Full of Crow Poetry, and
include a name in the subject line of your email. A bio is optional, you
are welcome to include it with your submission.
* No previously published work or simultaneous submissions. Your work will
be read in a prompt manner and notification is within a week barring any
catastrophes. If you have concerns, please feel free to contact us. We
ask for the courtesy of posting work exclusively for the month,when it
appears, but rights belong to the contributors.
* Submissions should be sent to either: poetry@fullofcrow.com or
aleathiadrehmer@fullofcrow.com and inquiries addressed to Aleathia
Drehmer who is the new poetry editor.

   as two free-flowing, stream of consciousness, confessional poems. Both are
   set in sea-faring locations: New Bedford, home of Herman Melville and
   birthplace of Moby Dick; and Plymouth, where the Pilgrims settled alongside
   the Indian tribes of Massachusetts. While "Pain Diary" is a clinical term
   for the log kept by patients and clients to detail the moments when they
   feel most desperate and in crisis, the term is also an excellent descriptive
   for this one-of-a-kind poetry that seems to spring out of raw emotion in
   language that is, at one and the same time, natural, spontaneous and
   desperate--the language of survival
